We recommend packing Beach towels, water shoes and flotation devices to enjoy our river beach. To feel comfortable, we suggest your own personal hygiene products such as toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body soaps and lotions, with the current pandemic we are not providing amenity products . There are hair dryers and irons available at the office if needed.
Your kitchen has many of the tools you would find in your own kitchen but if you are looking to prepare a special baked good or dish we suggest bringing your own cookware and bake ware. Simple pan sets are available in the office for a cleaning deposit. Additionally, if you plan on cooking please intend on bringing or purchasing at a local market all your own spices, condiments, coffee and tea and food items. Each cabin has a drip coffee maker with provided filters, please make sure you bring the right ground of coffee as the finer grounds clog the drip coffee makers. Cabins are not furnished with paper towels, zip lock bags, aluminum foil, trash bags etc.
Our BBQ's take briquettes and we recommend bringing your favorite BBQ tools.
Each cabin is unique and not all cabins offer the same amenities. However we know that travelers need as much information as possible to assist with packing. Each cabin comes with towels and bed linens. Cabins with futons for extra overnight guests will be stocked with extra blankets, sheets and pillows. Each cabin has a drip coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator of varying size, toaster, outdoor barbeque. Cabins with a full size kitchen have full size appliances including a stove and oven. All kitchens are supplied with kitchen towels, dish soap, sponge, drying rack, ice cube trays, cutting board, large mixing/serving bowl, cups, bowls, plates, knives, measuring cups, wine bottle opener, can opener and silverware. We do not provide pots and pans but a simple set is available at the office for a $20 cleaning deposit. We do not have ovenware and recommend bringing your own.
Every bathroom has a sink, shower and toilet and Fern River provides towels .. There is only one cabin that has a full bathtub. ( cabin 14) You are welcome to exchange your towels when needed for fresh ones at the office during regular hours.
We do not have phones in our rooms as most of our guests come to escape and enjoy some relaxation. Most cell phone providers do work onsite. Verizon works best.
Fern River has updated their Wi-Fi network and has free wifi for all guests. Speed is dependent on guests on network but testing has shown decent speed and bandwidth with many guests working remotely during the pandemic. Wi-Fi password will be provided in your confirmation email as well as on the map provided with your check-in packet.
There are varying sized tvs in every cabin with basic cable, we get several sports channels, news channels and the popular prime time tv channels.
Booking
Reservations are charged a 50% deposit at time of booking. Visa, American Express, Discover and MasterCard are accepted.
Check in
The guest checking in for your party must be at least 18 years old. Any balance is due at check in. A valid photo ID and credit card or debit card is required. The guest checking in is responsible for any of their guests actions and any damages to the cabins will be billed to the credit card on file. Cash payment is accepted with a valid credit card on file. If there has been a prior authorization there is no security deposit due. Without a prior deposit cash paying customers are required to host a $100 cash security deposit. Check in daily starts at 3pm . If you would like an earlier check in it may be possible for the staff to accommodate you, please call in with your request after 11am the day of your arrival.
During the current pandemic we are hosting a self check in for our guests safety. The morning of your arrival we charge the balance to the card on file. When your cabin is ready we place your registration card , a map to your cabin and your key outside. When you arrive there will be a greeting sign with instructions in case you forget.
Self check in is easy! All you need to do is locate the registration card with your name on it, sign in and place it in the envelope that says “Registration Cards”. Included with your registration slip is a map of how to get to your cabin and your key will be hanging on the same hook.
Please let us know if you need pots and pans in your room or any other special requests so we can have the items in your room for your arrival. On chilly nights we usually will preheat your room for your comfort.
Check out
Check out is by 11am. Guests can ask for a late check out and staff will accommodate them if possible. Guests remaining past 12pm will be billed $25 per hour.
There are no refunds for early checkout.
Cancelations
Reservations made by email, phone, OTA or directly.
If canceling within 24 hours of making a reservation no charge will be due. Any prepaid deposits will be refunded. Reservation cancellations less than 30 days out will forfeit the prepaid deposit. Reservations more than 30 days are subject to a 10%fee of the prepaid deposit.
If reservation is through Online travel agent such as booking.com/ Expedia ect, please call the company and request cancelation through them directly. We are not able to cancel reservations made through a third party.
Group Reservations
For groups with 3 or more cabins rented any prepaid cabin deposits will be forfeit.
If you are worried about a situation that may cause a late cancellation we recommend looking into travel insurance.
Modifications
As a courtesy if you need to change your dates and Fern River has availability on the dates you are looking for a one-time date change will be accommodated with 2-week notice. This does not apply to special events or group reservations. And upon a date change any deposit becomes nonrefundable.
Shortening a reservation.
If your reservation is more than 30 days out, you may be able to shorten a reservation but it may not be less than the minimum stay requirements in effect when you made the reservation. If it is under 30 days to your reservation shortening a stay is not allowed. Subletting or placing someone else in your cottage for the remaining days is not allowed.
Extra Guests
Fern River strives to maintain a peaceful atmosphere with limited guests onsite. If you would like to have extra day guests, please make arrangements with the office ahead of time. If you want to host a special event, please contact our event coordinator for event packages. We do not allow gatherings onsite without prior permission, and large groups are disruptive to other guests. Extra overnight guests are $10 per guest and each cabin does have a maximum occupancy.
Smoking
Is not allowed within the cabins or event grounds. You may smoke outdoors and around any of the smokeless ashtrays around the property. Please dispose of your ashes in the outdoor trashcans and not within the cabins. Guests with evidence of smoking indoors will be billed $200 for necessary cleaning.
Pets
We welcome ADA service dogs. All other pets are not allowed onsite.
Covid + Cleaning Precautions and Expectations
Our resort has had expert consultation on best cleaning and sanitation protocols. We are using a hospital grade sanitizer on all potential touch points in our cabins.
Being that each cabin is separate with no indoor hallways or multi use areas we are not requiring masks when guests are outside. We do ask you socially distance from other families and groups.
Our office staff will generally greet you behind glass as we are not allowing clients into our small office, it is just not large enough to socially distance so we have moved our office outside.
Our staff are spending extra time and care to keep you safe, we are requesting our clients return the favor and help our staff have less potential contamination by taking out their own trash, and doing their own dishes. Cabins left with excess mess and cleanup will be charged a $50 cleaning fee.
Rates
During the pandemic Fern River kept their prices at 2018 rates. While still doing upgrades to our network and cabins and costs overall raising. Instead of raising our rates 2022 we chose to add a $10 per night resort fee. This covers out expenses and is far less than if we would have raised rates. We do hope you understand.
